“What you ate for breakfast”
I never have been much of a breakfast person. In fact, while I was working I had the nasty habit of just jumping out of bed with just enough time to get ready and run out the door to get to the office on time. There, I would run through Creme de la Crumb and grab a coffee that would somehow keep me going until lunch.
Now, things have changed entirely. As my only rush in the morning is to get to my writing, I have what seems like all the time in the world for breakfast. So, over the course of the last while, I’ve built breakfast into my routine.
Every morning, I wake up, read for a while, get up to make sure the pup has everything he needs, wash the percolator and put the coffee on, and pour myself a bowl of homemade granola. Then I sit, looking out to the stunning Vancouver view.
This is usually when I write my prompt responses, pausing between written sentences to take a spoonful or a sip of coffee.
And then, once I’m done jotting down my response and I’ve finished my granola, I take what’s left of my coffee and move on to my writing and other activities for the day.
Basically, if anything comes out of this period in my life, it’s a new-found healthy breakfast habit!
So, to answer the prompt correctly, today I had a steaming cup of coffee (plus a little milk and sugar) as well as a bowl of the granola I made over the weekend with almonds, pecans, apricots, and cranberries. All of this accompanied by a little bit of handwriting.
